ADWA is guided by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors who provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight for the organization. The board’s commitment ensures that ADWA remains mission‑focused, accountable, and responsive to the community it serves. Day‑to‑day operations and program coordination are supported by one part‑time staff member, whose role is strengthened by the active involvement of the membership and the hands‑on support of the board. This lean structure reflects ADWA’s focus on maximizing impact while efficiently using its resources.

ALEXANDER STOYE

Alexander is a longstanding member of ADWA and is serving his third term as an ADWA Board member. Alexander has worked in the sector since 2008 and is currently the HR & Operations Officer at MirkaCare Services in Edmonton. He has been a strong voice for the recognition of competencies and fair compensation of the workforce and has many connections on committees and councils throughout the province.

Working in CDS since 1982, teaching at MacEwan since 1993 in disability related programs. I have been involved with various working groups promoting the community disability field for decades.

I am an HR manager with MirkaCare Services Inc. in Edmonton Alberta. I have been in the sector for 6 years and am the secretary of our regional HR Sub-Group in Edmonton. I currently am an Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol trainer and a MANDT trainer as well with MCS.

I am a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities and an experienced leader in community development. I live in Sherwood Park, Alberta, with my wife, April, and our two daughters, Autumn and Aubrey. I have dedicated nearly 20 years to working in the field of Disability Services.

Luxmanan Kulasingam is an experienced support professional with over a decade of service in the disability sector in Alberta. He has completed his Social Work diploma, currently continuing his studies toward a Bachelor of Social Work.

He was welcomed onto ADWA’s board in July of 2025. He contributes to leadership, advocacy, and strengthening standards of services across the province.

Throughout his career, Luxmanan has been committed to person-centred support, promoting dignity, independence, and meaningful community participation for individuals with developmental disabilities.

I currently work for Ability Resource Association in Lethbridge. I worked as a CDSP for many years before transitioning into my current role in Intake and Service Coordination approximately three years ago. Throughout my career, I have been involved in a variety of initiatives connected to the CDS sector, including SAIPA/SRSAN self-advocacy events and projects. I have also been connected to ADWA as a member and as an ADWA Champion.

Cara is proud to be a full-time instructor in the Disability Studies Diploma at Bow Valley College. Cara is passionate about community and supporting people with disabilities to have meaningful roles. She is also the owner of M-Powered Planning Ltd, an award-winning business that has been promoting positive and valuable roles for people with disabilities for over 20 years.

Shelley has been with ADWA since 2022. She is a Director with the Journeys Program (Supporting Older Adults with Developmental Disabilities) at the Calgary Scope Society. She continues to be excited about supporting and advocating for all staff in this sector to help get them the recognition they deserve.

Based in Camrose, Alberta, I am a seasoned human services professional with 33 years of experience in the field. I have been an active ADWA member for 10 years, which includes a decade of leadership on the Board of Directors from 2015 to 2025. Notably, I served as the board’s Treasurer for nine years, dedicating my skills to the financial health and advancement of the association.
